Fabulous fun at a Social Media Workshop

October 16, 2007

I spent yesterday (and will be there again today) at a Melcrum Social Media Workshop run by Lee Hopkins in Melbourne.

Interesting to consider the potential role in business of tools such as Twitter – which personally I don’t really see the point of – but as Lee says – as a communicator its not a matter of what I think is relevant or interesting – its what the audience is doing. Made me realise that sadly, I am not hip … Also sharply reminded me that I need to pay a bit more active attention to what is going on in this fast moving space.

It was interesting to look at some case studies to get an idea of what other corporations are doing in this space – particularly in the way of blogging. Real life examples will make the sell a lot easier I think.

And looking forward to having a crack at podcasting – surprised that the audio editing software is so easy. Good for those amongst us who are not bona fide geeks.

So, fun and games ahead. And today we venture into the bold world of the wiki – bring it on.
